Cops: Remains found in Harriman State Park not Eugene Palmer

Investigators in Rockland County are trying to determine if remains found in a park are those of a suspected killer. (12/2/13)

HAVERSTRAW - Bones found in a Rockland County park are not a suspected killer as initially thought.

Eugene Palmer's eldest son Clarence found the bones on Saturday in Harriman State Park. The remains were brought to the Rockland County Medical Examiner's Office for testing.

Haverstraw Police Chief Charles Miller says the remains belong to an animal, though it's not clear what kind.

Palmer is accused of fatally shooting his daughter-in-law Tammy Palmer in Haverstraw in September 2012. Some family members believe Palmer died in the park due to diabetes, a heart condition, and other ailments, and they have repeatedly searched the area.
