CONGERS - People living in the Clarkstown school district headed to the polls today to vote on a $6.5 million repair project for Congers Elementary School.

The school has been closed since August after a crumbling gym wall was discovered.

The list of critical repairs recommended by engineers was approved following a series of emergency meetings last fall.

If the vote does not pass, the school is likely to stay closed and students will be reassigned to other schools.

Polls closed at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
