NEWBURGH - The frigid temperatures are causing concern for homeless residents in Newburgh.

While there are shelters and hot meals available in the area, they are often temporary. Also, some homeless residents say finding a shelter, especially in cold temperatures, is a 24-hour job.

News 12 spoke to one homeless man at St. Patrick's Soup Kitchen on Grand Street in Newburgh. He says he's sharing an abandoned building with three others, including a mother and her 2-year-old child.

Rev. Steve Ruelke runs Ecelesia Ministries, an outreach program on Grand Street in Newburgh. The drop-in center offers a place for the homeless to keep warm and have some coffee and snacks

Visitors can also talk with counselors to discuss housing and shelter options.
