Con Edison has added extra crews ahead of Wednesday's winter storm.

The heavy snow and ice could damage power lines. Con Ed says it has also put up stronger wires after Sandy rocked the area last year in an attempt to minimize power outages in future storms.

Snowfall totals are expected in the 3-5 inch range south of I-287 and 6-12 inches north and west of I-287.
