YONKERS - Broadway stars were in Yonkers Monday night to help raise thousands of dollars for a local performing arts group.

The event was held at the Yonkers Riverfront Library to benefit Youth Theatre Interactions, or YTI. The nonprofit group introduces underprivileged children to the arts.

"We provide quality performing arts instruction for students within the city of Yonkers that may not be able to afford that instruction in other places," says Donise Lyons.

The fundraiser brought in $11,000 last year and YTI says it hopes to reach that goal again this year.
