MOUNT VERNON - A temporary bridge closing in Mount Vernon is causing headaches for businesses and residents in the area.

The Broad Street Bridge connecting Mount Vernon and Yonkers is so worn out that crews have a long list of repairs, including fixing concrete piers and laying new pavement.

Residents call the closure an inconvenience, while business owners say they hope repairs are done by the time school starts.

"Because we can't get customers over the bridge, we have to direct them all the way around and it's difficult to live with," says John Carozza, who works at a real estate company near the bridge.

The bridge is currently open for pedestrians to use the Metro-North Fleetwood train station.

Repairs are expected to be finished by Aug. 29.
