A barge caught fire Wednesday evening on the Hutchinson River in Mount Vernon.

The fire started just before 6 p.m. Wednesday. The barge was carrying recyclables and scrap metal, along with junk cars.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the barge. Officials say they are waiting to bring a crane in so they can lift the debris off of it. The barge belongs to Pascap Scrap Recyclers...
