WASHINGTON - America is observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day in honor of the accomplishments and legacy of the civil rights pioneer.

In Atlanta, a service is being held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where King was pastor. Across the country, others are honoring King with parades, memorials and services.

Vice President Joe Biden delivered the keynote speech at the National Action Network's annual MLK Day Breakfast. Also in Washington D.C., President Barack Obama and the first lady are doing a community service project.
