9-year-old wins Warwick pie eating contest
WARWICK - Pie lovers had a blast over the weekend as they scarfed down sweet desserts in the annual Warwick pie eating contest.
More than 100 people watched as 9-year-old Justin Slabaugh took the title for the children's contest, and Bonnie Cohen came up on top for the adults. "It was really good, messy, and I think I'm going to have to buy a new shirt," says Slabaugh.
The contest on the Railroad Green is a part of Warwick's sidewalk sale that happens every year. The proceeds go to the organization "Literacy Orange," which helps children and adults learn to read.
