PLEASANTVILLE - A man was killed this morning after being hit by a train at the Metro-North station in Pleasantville.

MTA officials say the 31-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, jumped onto the tracks as the train was pulling into the platform around 3 a.m.

Emergency responders carefully carried the man to a waiting ambulance. They say he was still alive as they took him away, but was pronounced dead upon arriving at Westchester Medical Center.

One person who lives nearby says he heard the conductor sounding the horn as the train approached the station.

Another train was brought in on the southbound track so the 40 passengers could resume their transit.

MTA police were on the scene for several hours conducting their investigation. Service was not interrupted during the investigation and the train was finally moved around 5:30 a.m.
