2 drivers rescued after accident

YONKERS - Two drivers had to be rescued today after their cars careened into the Bronx River under the Bronx River Parkway.

The accident happened on the parkway near exit 8, close to the Crestwood train station in Yonkers.

An off-duty firefighter and police officer jumped into the river to help the victims. The Yonkers DPW also assisted in saving the victims.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital.  Their conditions are currently unknown.
