Richard Giacovas is a producer and reporter for the Westchester and Hudson Valley evening newscasts at News 12 Westchester.
Richard began his career at News 12 in 2014, producing the early morning newscasts. He quickly rose through the ranks, moving on to to produce the Hudson Valley shows before securing a spot on the lead evening broadcasts. That blossomed into many more on-air opportunities, including celebrity interviews with Carol Burnett, The Jackson 5, America’s Got Talent superstar Grace Vanderwaal, John Stamos and many more. He also has covered multiple hard and breaking news stories including the Tragedy on theTracks and was one of the first reporters on the scene when a small plane went down in the Hudson River. Richard is also the official co-host of the White Plains New Year’s Eve Ball Drop with Lisa Reyes.
In 2015, Richard was the recipient of the “Business Council of Westchester’s Rising Stars - 40 Under 40 Award” which honors those in Westchester who are making their mark in their chosen profession at a young age.
Richard graduated from Iona College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications in 2013. After interning at News 12 and WNBC, he has found himself both in front of the camera and behind the scenes at News 12 once again.
Richard is an old soul, who loves broadway, concerts and Barry Manilow! You can catch Richard on Facebook Live or at events throughout Westchester. Richard was born and raised in the county. He now calls Rye home.
