Janelle Burrell

Janelle Burrell joined the News 12 Westchester team in July of 2011.

She was born in Brooklyn, but has called the Hudson Valley home most of her life, growing up in Poughkeepsie.

She comes to News 12 from YNN Syracuse, a Time Warner Cable station, where she spent 2 years as a reporter in their Binghamton bureau. During her time in the state's Southern Tier region, she frequently covered the nationwide debate on hydraulic fracturing and, of course, plenty of snow storms. While there she was honored for her investigative reporting by the Syracuse Press Club.

Before heading upstate, Janelle worked behind the scenes at Fox 5 in Manhattan and at MSNBC. She also spent time as a freelance reporter for Brooklyn Independent Television.

Janelle earned a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism where she was an Andrew Goodman Foundation scholar. She has a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in biology from Penn State.
