New Tappan Zee Bridge set to partially open this week

The new Tappan Zee Bridge will partially open this Friday for Rockland-bound traffic, officials say.
Information regarding the bridge’s traffic changes will be posted along the Thruway and nearby highways. News 12 is told the bridge will have a speed limit of 45 mph.
A concrete strip will be located in the second lane from the right which will temporarily be open for travel, however, it will eventually become the base for the future bicycle and walking path barrier.
The far-right lane will be separated by a solid white line, which is a no-passing zone.
Meanwhile, Westchester-bound traffic will stay on the old bridge for two to three more months.
The completed project is expected to improve the flow of traffic as it will have a total of eight lanes open for traffic - four for Rockland-bound and four for Westchester-bound.
