Police are searching for a man they say impersonated an MTA worker.

It happened Monday around 11 a.m. at the Morrison Avenue-Soundview Avenue station.

The 53-year-old victim, who works for the MTA, told police a man approached him pretending to be an MTA worker dropping off supplies while he was sitting in the ticket booth.

He described the suspect flashing an ID before he let him inside the booth. Authorities say minutes later the impersonator pulled out a knife and went straight for the cash box, taking off with about $78.

Surveillance video released by the NYPD captured a man sprinting down the stairs wearing gloves, a fluorescent vest and a mask. Another angle of the video shows the man running on the sidewalk and throwing what appears to be his face mask on the ground.

The MTA employee was not hurt.
