First patient in Stamford plasma clinical trial comes off ventilator

Stamford Health says it now has up to a dozen patients on the experimental blood plasma treatment for COVID-19.
Dr. Paul Sachs is leading this Stamford Health clinical trial. Sachs says one of the first two COVID-19 patients to be treated with the blood plasma is off the ventilator.
Dr. Sachs says the study is still too small to know if it's the plasma that's helping and treating a large number of patients, and it will hinge on a high number of blood plasma donations from those who've recovered.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sachs say a dozen patients in the ICU, between the ages of 34 and 78, are now on this experimental treatment.
Dr. Sachs says from the start, the goal has been to get the antibody-rich treatment to the sickest patients who would benefit most.
