Fire in auto body shop leaves 1 dead

Police are investigating a fire at an auto body shop on Longwood Avenue that left one worker dead in the building's basement Wednesday morning.
Investigators are working to determine what sparked the fire, which broke out shortly before 6 a.m. They are also trying to find out why the victim, who was identified as "Carlos," was in the basement of the auto shop.
"[The] fire went through the first floor," says FDNY Chief Kevin Butler. "Evidently, we believe it's a worker who was living down there."
The fire was contained within the building that houses the auto body shop, which is now closed for an investigation. The manager of the shop says she has yet to determine the extent of the damages.
