SOUTH NYACK - A raucous public meeting in Rockland County over the future of the South Nyack Village Hall on Thursday night appears to have had its impact.

Officials in South Nyack had considered tearing down the historic Village Hall to make way for a parking area, bike racks and restroom accommodations for the tens of thousands of people who will walk and bike along the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

However, after residents packed Village Hall to protest the intended change, the Village of South Nyack and the Tappan Zee Bridge Task Force say they are rethinking those proposals and revisiting another option.
