ROCKLAND - Security across the tri-state region is tightening as Super Bowl Sunday gets closer.

The FBI, police and undercover cops are patrolling a wide perimeter to make sure the big game remains threat-free. The FBI is just one of 100 local state and federal law enforcement agencies working together to keep MetLife Stadium safe. On game day, 700 uniformed police officers will be patrolling MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

There are more than 10 specialized teams on standby, including bomb techs, HAZMAT, evidence recovery and diving teams. Authorities also have a mobile command post just off Super Bowl Boulevard in Times Square. "The challenge would be lone wolf, like the Boston manhunt type situation, where somebody comes out of nowhere and a person who snaps,” says George Venizelos, of the FBI New York Field Office. “They're not even part of a terrorist group.”

Even though most of the official Super Bowl activities are in Manhattan and New Jersey, the Hudson Valley is also stepping up its security. In Rockland County, expect to see more cops at New Jersey Transit stations and bus depots. The Rockland County Sheriff's Department tells News 12 that bomb-sniffing dogs will also be deployed at random stations.

Westchester County police will be on hand for extra security for travelers at the Westchester County Airport. One runway will be closed today through Monday to accommodate private jets coming in for Super Bowl weekend.

Authorities warn that if you are planning to head to a Super Bowl party to watch the game, be aware that state police will also be keeping an eye out for drunken and distracted drivers. There is a statewide crackdown on DWI and texting-while-driving violators that starts today and runs through Monday
