A man was killed after driving off the exit ramp off of the Ashford Avenue Bridge.

DOBBS FERRY - Police say a drag race caused the car accident that killed a West Harrison man early Wednesday morning.

Chris Seguinot, 21, was allegedly speeding as he took the ramp off the Saw Mill Parkway at the Ashford Avenue Bridge exit in Dobbs Ferry. Witnesses say he had a green light, but crashed over the guard rail and plunged more than 20 feet before crashing on the parkway below.

Police say Seguinot was involved in a drag race. Others racers who did not wish to appear on camera told News 12 Seguinot had gathered a few hours earlier with more than 50 other drivers in an Applebee's parking lot in Yonkers. An officer later spotted Seguinot on the Saw Mill Parkway in Hastings along with three other vehicles.

Officers followed the four cars, until Seguinot and another driver sped ahead. It is unclear why he decided to exit the Saw Mill.

Police say they anticipate charges will follow, but did not elaborate.
