Bronx residents take frigid dip to raise awareness about homelessness

Dozens of people showed up for the 10th annual Dip Against Homelessness event in Orchard Beach on Saturday.
Several organizations, including BronxWorks and the Bronx Polar Bears, entered the frigid waters to try and raise awareness about street homelessness during the winter.
Participants brought socks, gloves, hats, money and other items to donate to BronxWorks.
The organizations educated people about the many factors that lead to someone becoming homeless.
After the cold dip, everyone warmed up with hot soup provided by Havana Cafe.
