Rep. Pat Ryan is trying to fight a plan for a Central Hudson rate increase.
This comes after administrative law judges recommended a partial rate increase on Wednesday.
Ryan is calling for the Public Service Commission to deny a rate increase and hold additional public hearings.
He says billing issues like thousands of customer overcharges must be rectified first.
If approved by the commission, electric rates would increase by nearly 17% and gas nearly 22%.
A decision will be made later this year.
